What Is Back Pain?

Back pain is a common condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It can range from a mild ache to severe pain that makes it difficult to perform daily activities.

  • Back pain prevalence increases with age, peaking in middle and older age groups, though it can occur at any age. Globally, low back pain is the leading cause of disability, affecting millions annually. In the United States, estimates show the prevalence of back pain increasing from about 28% in adults 18-29 to approximately 45-46% in those aged 65 and over.

Common Symptoms

  • Pain that can be sharp, dull, aching, or throbbing
